Tonight's Republican debate will, by all accounts, focus on recent terrorist acts within our own borders and the candidates' proposals of how to deal with this ongoing threat.
We are less than one year away from the most important election of our lifetime. I don't care how old you are, this is THE election. This election will determine whether America will be restored, or lost on the rubbish heap of history.
Our state faces an important election as well. Not only is it a gubernatorial election, but most state-wide positions are up for election: lieutenant governor, auditor, and treasurer as well as one senate seat are at stake. It is imperative that the citizens of Washington, and in particular, those citizens who hold Republican values VOTE in every statewide race in 2016.
In the last gubernatorial election, more than 400,000 votes were left on the table. Yet, Rob McKenna lost by 95,000 votes. The result? Jay Inslee became governor. Jay Inslee, the guy who wants to welcome Syrian refugees with open arms. Jay Inslee, the governor who promised no new taxes, yet tried to blame the Republicans for a government shut down because they wouldn't approve his tax increases.
I encourage everyone with an interest in the 2016 elections to get involved early. It's going to take all hands on deck! To start, make sure your voter registration is current - did you move recently? Coming up soon, in February, attend your precinct caucus (for more detailed information, please check back here often); in May, our state will hold our presidential primary. VOTE! Our state delegates will be sent to Ohio in July and are bound to vote according to the primary results on the first round.
The final thing you can do is get the word out - through social media, email, talking to your family, neighbors and co-workers. No effort is too little. Remember, this is THE election. Let's not lose our precious republic.
